I don't speak Spanish at all fluently. So that language war leaves me as a Native American questioning the Teddy Roosevelt Administration's possession of my mother, I am so identified as Native American.
No other politics grants me true racial protection. One not speaking Spanish benefits little from "Hispanic heritage." I know this of any Quebecois attempting to refuse their own French, utterly just as well.
