SINGAPORE, Feb. 24 -- Popular Chinese film actress Gong Li married a Singaporean businessman in a secret wedding in the city-state earlier this month, a newspaper reported Saturday. Gong Li, 30, and Ooi Hoe Seong, 45, took their matrimonial vows at Singapore's Registry of Marriage Feb. 15, the New Paper confirmed.
The marriage was attended by about 10 relatives. The New Paper said Gong Li tried to keep the marriage secret after the couple wedded. The actress had denied she was married two days after the wedding in response to a question from a Taiwan newspaper reporter. 'A marriage is a good thing, what is there to hide?' she was reported as saying. She added that if she were to marry, it would not be a secret. Ooi is a tobacco executive based in Hong Kong.
