random gravity falls + math headcanons that showed up in my brain while I was trying to study for my statistics exam

Dipper gets all his homework done pretty consistently but has bombed a few tests because he gets anxious taking them. on the other hand, Mabel struggles with homework but does really well on tests. (she spends some extra time doodling on the pages so Dipper doesn't feel bad when he's one of the last students still taking the test)
also the two of them had a competition going on at one point to see who could memorize more digits of pi. their parents had to put a stop to it after it almost devolved into a Carpet-Diem-level fistfight. they still go all out for pi day annually.
Ford almost failed out of a math class in middle school because he would do the calculations in his head and refuse to show his work. The resulting conversation with his parents was unpleasant, to say the least.
every time Stan writes a greater than or less than symbol he gives it alligator teeth, owing to that one "alligator going for the bigger number" metaphor.
Soos got the pac-man version of that lesson and will softly "waka-waka" to himself while drawing those symbols.
Ford and Fiddleford once cheated on a math test in college by sharing a graphing calculator. not because either of them needed math help from the other, but because Fidds had turned his calculator into a robot and forgot to undo it before the day of the test. they didn't get caught. they both still feel a tiny bit guilty about it.
