After the Ottoman Empire fell, almost every remaining indigenous group sent delegates to the League of Nations to beg for safety self-determination. The Maronites, the Druze, the Yazidi, the Jews, the Kurds, the Armenians, etc.

Arab Muslim leadership pushed for the 1,300-year status quo. Everything was centered around "pan-Arab nationalism": states that could work together as a new Arab Empire.

And guess what? People in Syria and Greece and Algeria?

Not Turks. Never been Turks. Don't want to be Turks.

Also, despite how nice and progressive all that sounded at first, it was happening alongside increasingly paranoid authoritarian control. Censorship, secret police, and tyranny that led to massacres, pogroms, and the Armenian Genocide.

Some of them had been neglected for so many centuries of colonization that they didn't have the infrastructure to function as independent countries. England and France were tasked with helping those places become independent countries.

They didn't do a great fuckin job with that, because they only knew how to run colonies, not how to, like, respect people's autonomy.

But they also didn't send their citizens to take the land, pillage it, send its resources back home, and enslave a bunch of people.

I didn't realize until recently how hard the Nazis worked to spread anti-Jewish propaganda globally.

I feel like we're taught history and politics in a way that implies there's no connection between, say, Africa and Europe. Europe and West Asia. West Asia and Southeast Asia. Etc. I read Mein Kampf last year. Hitler talks about how eventually, we're going to run out of natural resources, and he wants to take as much land as possible for the (Aryan) German people ahead of time. To ensure its longevity or whatever.

He did not, to the best of my knowledge, have any kind of stopping point in mind. He was just going for as much of the world as he could take over. I'm asking because I don't know, and my speculation based on STA's clear projection is making me assume that it's a patrilineal and natal structure--i.e. you're born a Turk if your father was a Turk, and that's the only way to become one. Both groups love to scream about blood quantum, just in opposite directions. Both groups (white supremacists and leftists) do, whether consciously or unconsciously, realize that whiteness isn't just skin color. It's culture and ethnicity too. I think white supremacists are actually MORE aware of this than leftists.

In white supremacists, whiteness is a form of purity than can be easily contaminated. For a white supremacist, any non-whiteness, whether cultural or through interracial marriage etc, "fouls" and destroys the whiteness of a person and their descendants. Whiteness can be expanded to include certain groups (Irish, Italians) but it can be revoked again. At one point, American Jews were kind of on the cusp of maybe being considered white by some groups... but that ship has long since sailed away.

For a leftist, it's the opposite direction. For leftists, skin color is something that marks you with the "original sin" of white privilege, and this status (in their minds) should be immutable. Once mainstream white supremacy labels a group as "white", that label is permanent for the leftists, even though for the white supremacists it's always conditional. In leftists, whiteness is an evil mark you can never erase, and in fact whiteness can contaminate others. This is why a single white ger means ALL Jews are "white".
