I haven't played the DS version in a long time, but I seem to remember a topic on these boards back in 2006 or so dedicated to getting the maximum number of coins in each course. I seem to remember that for at least one course, you had to not get one specific star (so that a boss would still be there no matter which star you picked) and then pick a different star (so that something else was unlocked). The end result is that getting max coins was missable. If you got that one star I mentioned without getting max coins, the only way to get max coins was to delete your file and start over.
Unfortunately, posts from 2006 are long gone. However, we have almost 20 years of new knowledge about the game since then. Does anyone know if, based on our current knowledge, if getting max coins is still missable? If so, which exact star do you not get?
