uBlockDNS is a DNS-level ad blocker built on the same open source filter lists that power uBlock Origin, the most effective content blocker available. uBlock Origin runs as a browser extension on desktop.
If you're on an iPhone, a smart TV, a game console, or a work machine, you can't install browser extensions. That's most devices for most people.
The filter lists (EasyList, EasyPrivacy, and others) are open source. They're maintained by volunteers. Anyone can use them. But applying them requires software, and until now that software only lived inside desktop browsers.
uBlockDNS applies those same lists before your device connects. You configure your device to use uBlockDNS, and ads, trackers, and malware are blocked before the connection is ever made. No extension needed. Works on any device.
I run ublockorigin.com as a community resource. It's a fan site, not the official project. The official home of uBlock Origin is Raymond Hill's GitHub. Most people who visit are on mobile. They leave with no solution. They deserved one, so I built this.
uBlockDNS is not part of uBlock Origin. It's not endorsed by Raymond Hill or the uBlock Origin team. It's not a fork, not a spinoff, not affiliated in any way.
We use the same community filter lists. So does AdGuard, so does Brave, so does every content blocker. The lists are open and free. The DNS service that applies them is what we built.
The client is open source under MIT. Anyone can audit or contribute.
The DNS blocking is free. DNS-level blocking shouldn't cost money to try.
No query limits. No paywalls.
If we ever charge for anything, it'll sit on top of what's already here. What's free now stays free.

Browser extensions offer the most thorough blocking for desktop browsers. DNS blocking covers your whole device but can't match per-element precision. They work best together.
