A few weeks ago i started having issues creating the "steam_settings" folder for Goldberg emu. I tried multiple tools and every one of them didn't work. Currently I'm using Mr_Goldbergs script, this is the error I'm getting

So i cracked AoE3DE with goldberg and Age Lan (for multiplayer), and it works beautifully. The only issue is, whenever i launch other steam games they're in an offline mode, and if i launch them through the icon on the desktop they automatically run AoE3DE. I didn't use the injection method, put it all in the game files. The only way seems to be deleting it, i guess? Or can i stop the process somehow/make steam not use those files when running other games?

So im trying to create a GSE saves folder. Now correct me if im totally wrong here, but GSE is used to help games run without steam right? So why do I not see the steam dll files from the downloaded GSE fork inside my cracked dying light 2 game directory?

I know the GSE folder is supposed to be auto created when you launch the game, but im unsure what exactly to do when it comes to cracked games?. I supposedly have the OLD goldberg save folder and I know of the migration tool, but im just so lost and confused on how to do what im trying to accomplish.

Basically the title, I have it on steam but it doesn't support lan and I have a horrible internet. Sometimes I even have to wait for a basic html page to open.

So now I am trying to use goldberg to do that. Has anyone got it to work??

Steps taken(pretty much the steps mention in github):

  1. download this goldberg fork

  2. copy legit drg(deep rock galactic) files to a new folder unrelated to steam.

  3. create steam_interfaces.txt by dragging the legit steam_api64.dll file over to generate_interfaces_x64.exe. Steam_settings folder was created.

  4. Delete the original steam_api64.dll and copy over goldberg's steam_api64.dll to the same location.

  5. create steam_appid.txt and type in the game id from the game's steam url.

  6. run the game and start a mission with 'host public game' as the option.

  7. do the same on a second computer.

  8. change user id and name on one device.

  9. attempt to join the game. But nothing shows up.

* I verified the lan connection by using tightvnc(a local network remote control thingy), which works as expected. Both firewalls were turned off to avoid conflicts.

Is there anything I can do ? or this is a game specific problem?

Do note that drg is listed under supported games for nucleus-coop, which uses goldberg emulation to enable splitscreen on the same device.

Edit:

I got it to work using the experimental steam overlay feature. You can easily and reliably find and invite other players within lan under the friends tab.

To use the steam overlay feature do the same steps as the normal goldberg installation except copy the steam_api(64).dll from the "experimental/x64|x32" folder instead of the one from the "regular" folder.

Then copy the configs.overlay.EXAMPLE.ini file and paste inside the steam_settings folder(where you have moved the steam_interfaces.txt file), rename to configs.overlay.ini and open it and change enable_experimental_overlay to 1.

Then you can open the overlay using shift+tab and invite other players from there.

Hey all! I ran into a problem with black ops 3 from both (steamrip.com) and (ankergames.net), im relativly new to this stuff but blackops3.exe file was prompting steam to say "... no license," so I found golberg emu, i used the steam_api64 file and swapped them from bo3 files with the one from goldberg, now heres the problem, black ops 3 will boot in task manager, but will not pull up anything on my screen. After about ~10-30 seconds it just closes, ive tried forcing it to windowed, tried running it on compatibility with windows 8, also im on windows 11, any ideas? thank you! I had previoisly bought the game on my old computer but lost that in a fire a few months ago.

I tried recently to play in lan and get it up via the overlay that is apparently present in the experimental version, I've created a overlay config file as it is stated in the documentation but nothing is showing up when alt-tabbing

Does someone know how to make it work on MHW ?

Hey everyone, whoever made Achievement Watcher , and the entire Goldberg is a hero. Im feeling like im on a platinum race (i got 700 trophies) That's the introduction, now the actual post im talking about the games that comes with a setup that's not from Rune,Skidrows... For example im starting Jum King, the game doesn't have the steam.dll file to replace it with the GSE version . Any help please? (Here's another example, crash bandicoot 4 was installed without steam.dll file, so achievement watcher didn't work, i looked in another site where there's a skidrow version, and reinstalled, with the steam.dll file, after replacing it with GSE verison , it worked and i 100% it) thank again

Is there any way to force the game to access multiplayer mode and bypaasing the online required message? Some games lets you easily open the online mode without getting blocked by the online message, but some games does not even if game like Jump Force's final version has online versus as the only functional online mode after EOS and switched to P2P but still the online mode can't be accessed with Goldberg.

So i want to play PEAK with my brother, which was said to work with GoldbergEmu, however when i tried to use lobby_connect in the tools/lobby_connect folder, it showed no users online, I made sure to set it to "open to friends" in the settings, and when i tried the original GoldbergEmu lobby_connect, it showed "gse orca is online: 16777214". any idea how i could get it working so i could play with my brother?

Here are some key points which is causing me to not understand the issue, which i will be editing through fixing it:

1: I generated random steam ids online for both of us, me and my brother.

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to get OUTBRK running offline via the Goldberg Steam emulator, but I keep hitting this error on launch just after the disclaimers:

What I’ve done so far:

  • Replaced steam_api64.dll in …\Outbrk_Data\Plugins\x86_64\ with the Goldberg Emu DLL (renamed original to .org).

  • Created steam_appid.txt (containing only 1107320) tried putting them both next to the DLL and inside steam_settings/.

  • Added empty offline.txt and disable_networking.txt flags under that steam_settings/ folder.

  • Confirmed the file names aren’t hidden (.txt.txt).

  • Ensured Steam client is fully exited before launching the game.

  • Verified via Process Monitor that the game indeed loads the Emu DLL from the correct path.

I found an older version of the game that is working with Goldberg Emulator, but it's missing important performance updates. Any ideas on what might be going wrong here? Has anyone run OUTBRK successfully with Goldberg? Thanks!

I was playing resident evil 2 and i was using achivement watcher throught goldberg, i used steamautocrack for that. Then later on i decided to buy the game thinking i can just transfer my save files from the crack version to the original. But when i did that nothing appeared.

I really would appreciate any help, i dont want to resort to using achievement manger and start new playthrough again.

Hello everyone,

I'm very new to this. Managed to get some games to work away from Steam, including Rivals of Aether. However, I can't get it to load the mod files I put into steam_settings/mods.

I suspect this is because they are (still, I believe) only available in the testing branch, but it works without problems on my Steam profile and the used files are exactly the same, I just replaced the api.

Perhaps the game needs to do some sort of version check to confirm the test version is allowed? Is there any way to make this work?

(Also, off-topic, but should I take any precautions when copying my Steam files, provided I don't intend to share them? I know it's possible to trace the user from those, so I was just worried if there could be any measures to report my account in case the game detects custom apis and wanted to ask if there's anything I should edit or delete from the steamapps/common folder, which I assume is the only thing I need to run the game.)

Here is the step by step of what I'm doing, and its problem:

Take clean files, create steam_interfaces, overwrite api(64) dlls, launch game. Game launches. Take entire directory and copy it to another computer. On LAN (192.168..) game works fine and LAN multi game can be seen that was created by machine A by machine B. It runs and they can join and play.

Take exact same directory, copy it to a computer miles away (C), computer A & C have VPN/TunnelLAN (Zerotier) running. They can ping each other both on VPN and real ips. Ports are open. Neither can see each other's game, regardless of who hosts, yet they can share files and do everything else as if they're on LAN. The exact same process is losing its ability at some point and I don't know how to fix it.

I spent about 3-4 hour trying to figure this out and tried multiple combinations: on zerotier's side, then on the emu's side. Why would the game that can be seen with the correct emu setup not work via VPN/Tunnel, but work when on the same router? Anyone?

What am I missing, can anyone shed some light on this to help before I rip my hair out?


Okay, so the answer to this, which worked for me, was a metric issue with the other clients internet protocol, not the emu.

Basically, if you go to the properties of your network nieghborhood or to Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings, you want to find the protocol that is ZeroTier One [bunchofnumbers], right click on it, go to its properties. Find Internet Protocol Version 4 (ipv4) in the list, double click on it. Under the new tab you want to hit the "Advanced" button. There, at the bottom, you should see a Automatic Metric setting, if it is checked, uncheck it and put the number 1 in the box/space provided--what you're doing is manually setting this protocol order of priority by your OS. When it's active, you're giving it the highest (metric 1) priority over all your other protocols (ISP, etc), meaning it will be used first.

Hit "OK" out of everything and restart the game if necessary.

Now, if you want to double check if the settings took, open a command prompt and type:

route print

Under IPv4 Route Table:

You should see a list in order of the ip destination. Find your zerotier IP block (i.e. 10.68.128.*) and check if its metric is lower than your current, main protocol, i.e. Ethernet 2 @ 192.168.100.2 from your router.

It should look something like this:

Notice how the 10.68.128.10 metric is 277, and lower than my main protocol of 192.168.100.2 from my router? Yours should be too. If it isn't, you can try to manually remove and specify the metric by typing the following in the command prompt.

route delete 10.68.128.0
route add -p 10.68.128.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.68.128.10 metric 20

Hit enter, then type route print again, you should see the metric of your zerotier ip as being 20, and nothing is lower than that. Adjust to your Zerotier ip according to what yours is via zerotier (i.e if your ZT ip is 192.168.10.23 your line would be route add -p 192.168.10.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.23 metric 20), the -p option is up to you, it just means permanent/persistent. The route can always be deleted as shown above. These settings should be persistent, regardless of how you set them (either in adapters settings or the command prompt), so that when zerotier is disabled the metric for it is inactive, but when it's reactivated again the metric is the highest again.

I'm starting a playthrough with 4 friends, but only 2 can connect to each other (we are using lobby_connect while being in a LAN setup), it works great.
The problem is, the other 2 can't join, they ping normally on the LAN program we use, but when they open the game through lobby_connect, it does not appear "JOINING", and instead they are sent to a completely solo lobby, where we can't connect to them either.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks anyways!

Looking to get this game working for a lan party. It appears to use steamworks for multiplayer but its like its trying to separately auth to an online server before getting the opportunity to host/join a game.

Does any one have any experience with this? Or if there's an older version that could work? I read elsewhere here that some guy got it working but then it wasn't working with a newer version.

Im using the latest update that came out not long ago. Keen to try an older version but my provider of software is no longer hosting the older version

I am trying add some settings like disable_lan_only in my L4D2 game, which requires putting a .txt file in the steam_settings folder, however I failed to find it. I tried making one in the

/common/left4dead2/,

/appdata/roaming/Goldberg SteamEmu Saves

/folder where I extracted the goldbergemu files

I assume none of them worked because I used force_account_name.txt, and my name didn't change.

What should I do? Thanks

  1. Create a folder named steam_settings in the ../bin folder (where you pasted the .dll file from GoldbergEmu

  2. Put all commands (from examples given in the files) by creating *command*.txt in the folder

  3. Profit.

I see this every time I launch Left 4 Dead 2, is there any way to fix this? Where can I edit the launch options, since I'm not running through Steam.

  1. Create a shortcut of the left4dead2.exe (desktop for example)

  2. Right click the shortcut -> Properties

  3. In Target, after the location add -steam

Should look something like this:

So I was trying to get 100% Orange Juice to work with goldberg, but I ran into problems.

On stable 0.2.5, it just doesn't start. The initial settings window appears, but after pressing start game just nothing happens.

On snapshot, everything works and we can see a lobby if one of us creates it, but upon trying to join we get instant "Failed to connect to lobby".

Does anyone have experience with this game, or what might be worth trying in general?

I'm trying to host a Valheim dedicated LAN server with Goldberg, however to join the dedicated server it seems you have to use the Steam UI Server browser to connect to the server as it doesn't show up in the in-game server list... Is there any way for Goldberg to bypass the Steam UI server browser and connect directly?

Game works fine with the emulator, just wish I could get connecting to the dedicated server to work as this game has terrible performance.

I’m unfamiliar with the Steam Emulation scene so I’m not sure what’s possible. All the stuff i saw on cis.rin.ru seemed to be about windows executables.

Portal 2 requires steam for online matchmaking, even in the PS3 version. But the PS3 compatible servers were shutdown in 2018 making online play impossible and certain trophies unobtainable. Is it possible to restore that functionality with steam emulation?

I downloaded a few games from https://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewforum.php?f=22, and i am able to launch it fine by running the binary from it (i'm on Linux). But i have (maybe a dumb) question: can i launch those games from steam itself?

Or everytime i want to launch a game i have to open the steamapps/common folder and running in by double clicking?

Hi, I've been using the emu with no problem for a while now with ark survival evolved, but I would like to experience it with mods, everytime I've tried this I've had no luck, so I was wondering if it was even possible.

When I add the mods (downloaded from the workshop, or from Ark Server Manager) as the readme.txt for the emulator explains, I get a text inside the game saying that is installing xxxxxxxx mod, but that never finish and never fades.

I don't know what to do, am I doing something wrong 🤷‍♂️❓

I have been working on Auto-CreamAPI, an application which easily and automatically sets your game up with CreamAPI, for a while now, but I've always wanted to do something similar for Goldberg, so here it is.

Features

  • Setup Goldberg Emulator’s DLLs and configuration files automatically.

  • Find the AppID by providing the game’s name without having to look it up manually.

  • Fetch a list of DLCs for an AppID from both the Steam Store and SteamDB.

  • Set any option like "offline mode" as needed.

  • Set global options like "account name" in the app.

Installation

  • Install the latest .NET Core Runtime by clicking here, clicking on the "Download x86" button and installing it.

  • Download the latest release and extract it into any folder (e.g. %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\GoldbergGUI).

Usage

  • Double-click GoldbergGUI.WPF.exe to open the application.(When starting it for the first time, it might take a few seconds since it needs to cache a list of games available on the Steam Store and download the latest Goldberg Emulator release.)

  • Click on the "Select..." button on the top right and select the steam_api.dll or steam_api64.dll file in the game folder.

  • If needed, click the "Generate steam_interfaces.txt" button. Once a "steam_interfaces.txt" file exists, the button greys out to avoid accidentally overwriting it.

  • Enter the name of the game and click on the "Find ID..." button.

    • If it did not find the right game, either try again with more precise keywords, or copy the app ID from the Steam Store to field to the right of the "Find ID..." button.

  • Click the lower right "Get DLCs for AppID" button to fetch all available DLCs for the game.

  • Set advanced options like "Offline mode" in the "Advanced" tab.

  • Set global settings like account name and Steam64ID in the "Global Settings" tab.

  • Click on "Save".

In case someone in the far future is trying to get Barotrauma to work, these are the steps that i've followed:

(HOST ONLY)

  1. Create a folder wherever you like.

  2. Copy all the files from the Barotrauma folder and paste them in the folder you just created.

  3. Apply Goldberg ONLY to the new folder.

  4. Edit config.xml and config_player.xml and change 'usesteammatchmaking' and 'requiresteamauthentication' to False in both.

  5. Open the DedicatedServer.exe and ask your friends to join you through your IP.

For joining your own game use the original Barotrauma files, not the ones you made for hosting the server. You'll also need to follow the steps below in order to join your server.

(CLIENTS)

  1. Open the Barotrauma folder, edit config.xml and config_player.xml and change 'usesteammatchmaking' and 'requiresteamauthentication' to False in both.

  2. Open the game, look for the Server Browser and use the "Direct Connection" (i dont remember the exact label of the button, it was somewhere in the bottom right of the server browser) and type in the IP of the host.

This is the way me and my friends have been playing for a while and its a lot of fun. Just remember to stay silent whenever you're dead/unconscious in order to make things more fun.

I used this in Dead Rising 3 and it worked flawlessly. Me and my friend spent hours having fun so I owe you many thanks my dude. I tried this on F.E.A.R 3 and Dead rising 2 and they kept crashing so I probably did something wrong. I am not the best with this stuff so a GUI would help immensely.

Also doesn't hurt to ask but do you plan to do a uplay emulator same as this one? It would be so cool if old far cry games and maybe even ghost recon wildlands lan! I don't think that's ever been done before (Because It's too hard probably) and it's probably impossible but if anyone can do it it's youu!

Lan is really amazing even if you own the games but have a shitty internet connection ;]

I was able to get raft - second chapter (v.12) working over LAN. Sometimes it is a bit buggy, but over all, it is great to play with the family.

However, i need some direction on getting an external IP connecting in. I believe I have all the necessary ports open and forwarded to my server port 47584 (plus a handful of others). The external friend (Billy) can connect to other self hosted services, so I know they can connect, but for some reason it is not working. He is able to play when he is here, but when he goes home, I cannot get it working.

I have added my IP 123.456.789.101 to the settings\custom_broadcasts.txt on both the host and the external person... but still no luck. I read somewhere that both the host (me) and the joiner (them) need to have port forwarding set on their connection.... but this would be a huge pain to try to get someone else to open ports, just to connect to me.... and has never been needed.

Is there something I am missing? is there a log file anywhere I can see that would help me get this working?

I'm trying to play the multiplayer DLC for Final Fantasy XV with a friend, but it doesn't work at all using the latest version of Goldberg.

The only person I saw that managed to play this on LAN with another friend was on a post from 2018 in cs.rin.ru. He played with the exact same build as me, using the same crack and everything, but with an old version of the Goldberg emu (I think it was v0.0.9).

The last version available to download is v0.1.3, and it doesn't work with FFXV either.

Does anybody have v0.0.9 or any of the old 0.0.x versions?

So I tried using Goldberg Emulator with my DODI Repack The Forest v1.12. Unsuccessfully. I don't understand how this works at all. I'm new to this.

- I replaced the dlls in both the game folder and in TheForest_Data.

- SteamAppID.txt was present already with the game's steamappid inside.

- The build number in the game changed (bottom right corner).

- SHFIT + TAB is not working, which I guess it should(?)

- Tried to create the steam_interfaces.txt with the tool provided, but when I use the original steamapi.dll it just creates a blank steam_interfaces.txt file.

- When I try to create a lobby ingame, it gives me an "unexpected error" message and the game crashes.

I'm actually completely hopeless what I should do with this... it's making me mad. What do people mean when they say "Install Goldberg Emu?", if it's just copying 2 DLLs somewhere? Am I not doing something right?

So me and my girlfriend bought 2 games off steam:

Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2

Then set them up with the same version of Goldberg Emu. (the year old build release on git) And we set up our names and steam ID's in the "settings" folder

When we play portal 2 coop all progress is lost once we're back at the hub. So once we playthrough the first 6 chambers and then return to hub, it starts as if we quit the levels and we can't progress

(I'm aware that we could just load up the completely opened lobby map valve put in the game as a temporary solution untill they never fixed the problem, but we we're hoping to playthrough it with getting the authentic progression experience. Not using "changelevel" for every map and missing out on unique dialogue and new hub areas unlocking.)

From what I've read it stores and accesses multiplayer progress from the "steam cloud". So is there a way for Goldberg Emu to capture the information it tries to send out and supply it to the game. (sorry I don't know what I'm talking about) No console commands that have to do with manually changing progression work as it never loads whatever progress information it sends out.

Then in left 4 dead 2: Survival times are saved in the same way. So we can't ever save our times which means we can't try to get all gold times achievement.

I haven't tried the latest build of Goldberg Emu or the Experimental builds, so maybe this is already supported and I'm just unaware. (if so that'd be great)

If not I guess I'd recommend anyone who's interested in progressing Goldberg Emu's steam mirroring capabilities to mess with Portal 2's cloud-side storage properties. Also it will not let you play any downloaded community chambers unless it believes you're online, so downloading one after launching the game through Steam and then switching to running the game through Goldberg Emu it will not show up. Valve seems obsessed with requiring an always online connection. It seems stupid to me to not save and load coop progress locally. Also there's the Robot Enrichment menu where you can customize the robots. It could be interesting to see if it'd be possible to load up custom items while using Goldberg Emu. (I'm not too interested in the robot customization, I would just love to see Goldberg Emu be a total alternative to Steam without hindering any experience)

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, I love Goldberg Emu as is. It's great to have a way to play our games we bought on our own terms. (not connected to the internet or having to run some game launching program, I can double click an .exe myself)

Note: Require 2 PC and/or Laptops with Internet Connections for best experience

1. Make sure you have this game Cracked by Goldberg.

2. Go to C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Goldberg SteamEmu Saves\settings

3. Check "listen_port.txt", both PC must have same number in order to detect port sharing.

Example: on my file "listen_port.txt" the number is 47584 so other laptop/pc "listen_port.txt" number must 47584 too.

4. Then Check "user_steam_id.txt", They must different number for each PC. If not, it cannot detect.

Example: My file "user_steam_id.txt" number is 76561200021996584 so in other laptop/pc "user_steam_id.txt" file must not have same number (by changing the number to other like 76561200021996585 for example)

5. To test them, Open the Game (Both PC).

6. Go to "Multiplayer" Tab

7. Each PC must have access different Tab, one is "Create Match" while the other one is "Find Match"

8. PC with "Create match" should detect other PC with "Find Match"

9. Enjoy the Multiplayer Battle

This should work 100%

this is my first time manually setting up a steam emulator, so i could be doing something wrong, but this is what i've done so far:

  • renamed the original steam_api(64).dll to steam_api(64).dllo

  • extracted the steam_api(64).dll's into the location where the .dllo files are

  • created steam_appid.txt and put only the text "227300" in it (ETS's steam appid)

  • tried launching the game through the exe in the game files

did i miss a step? did i not get the right goldberg files? this is what the archive i downloaded looks like btw, so let me know the correct place to get them from if i got an old build or something please

Can anyone help me with a step by step on how to make Goldberg Steam emu to work with Tales of Symphonia (Steam ver) CPY crack? No matter how many times I tried following the readme included, it just does not work. Using the renamed CPY steam_api.dll (cracksteam_api.dll) to generate steam_interface.txt yields an empty file. And when clicked on, the game booted for a bit which then became a white windowed screen, and then ctd. I don't whom to ask for this kind of thing and I hope someone can help me with this. I really wanted to make this work so that I can view the achievements in Achievement Watcher..

I have a version ov overcooked 2 with all the DLC

When i replace the steap_api.dll with Goldberg's, all the dlc are desactivated.

I tried to create a DLC.txt file into the game directory with this content :

1013300=Overcooked! 2 - Campfire Cook Off

But still no DLC.

Is it because of the codex crack ? (there is a steam_api.cdx file)

I have Horizon Zero Dawn in steam, but I play offline, and for that game achievements do not get unlocked while being offline, other games do.

So to clean up system resources, the game hits hard on the hardware, I pasted the golberg emu to play it with steam closed, and offline.

But I forgot to swap the dlls, and I ran HZD from steam, with golberg dll and being online....

Have I screwed anything? I'm a bit worried.

hi im on linux and im trying to crack counterstrike 1.6, i replaced all the files and followed the readme carefully, but when i try to run the game i get

update: i figured out i should use the hl.sh file when running the game, but now i get

Error:libgcrypt.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

but it runs fine with steam

Hey,

whenever I start Risk of Rain 2 the game has a black screen and crashes. It also deletes the steam_appid.txt file. I found out that the game apparently checks for a digital signature and is only playable if this signature is present in the steam_api64.dll (This is the exact same problem I have).

How can I sign the Goldberg Emu's steam_api64.dll to include a digital signature (possibly by Valve)? I can't figure that out.

Hi , Im trying to play online with a 2 friends of mine who live together (they are on lan) , we downloaded the game, and followed the instructions for the setup of the emu carefully . Now the problem is that on my"lobby connect" i find myself alone and can not connect to their lobby. They on the other side, who are on the same wifi network can find each other and play without problems. I do not know if the problem is related with me not being in a lan conncetion w/ them or what. I would really appreciate any help. PD: We have the disable_lan_only.txt file on our game folder and we hace also tried using hamachi to create a lan network without results. Excuse my english
Update: So now i restarted and sudennly I can see their names on the "lobby connect" but they cant see mine, and if they host and i try to connect to their game, i select the .exe of the game (not the shortcut) but nothing happens

I was wondering if I could make Goldberg Emu work online.

Theoretically it should work if I use something like Tunngle(RIP) or Hamachi, however, I want to do it perfectly using Port Forwarding and Static IP as it's much better and also allows playing over Intranet.

What I have problem with is the ports that I need to forward and configuring "Custom Broadcast ips"

I have no problem accessing both clients and the server.

Any kind of help is much appreciated.

Hello, green hell works but has some pretty big bugs.There's a big chance that others that connects to your lobby may spawn inside you(not in the same lobby), others when they simply join their own lobby(single player).Can be played with brute force(get lucky), just connect multiple times until it works, unfortunate if you don't have that much time its quite unplayable if you have party of 4 as with every player the chances that wont work rises.
