Some deal with shitters all day and lose the ability to see it case by case, some can't rationalise beyond the black and white rules. Some get brown nosed for so long they start believing every idea they have is genius.
Every server in the top 5 has atleast one unsufferable staff member.
Looks like ya just got perma rolebanned by the RMC Host on a complete whim. You realized your mistake and it got solved IC so a perma ban seems HELLA excessive.
I guess whisper expects everyone to be 100% perfect 24/7
I’m gonna be honest, I got a little pissed reading this. Beyond just the fact that the ban was already a little contentious (two admins not being able to agree on their interpretations’ of the rules), the fact that you got punished further in a fucking appeal is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
An appeal is meant to be looked at, discussed internally, and given a formal response. You do not use an appeal as a reason for further punishment or to stir shit. Plain and simple.
And on a first offense? Are you kidding? This is kind of thing you give a warning for. You pull the player aside and explain things to them (CO sort of did that, so that’s a plus). You explain why it might’ve been an issue and how you can improve from here.
You don’t roleban them for a week and then extend it INDEFINITELY when they try to appeal.
Edit: With context, this does look a bit worse on Nigel’s part, but it still doesn’t fucking excuse the shit that Whisper pulled in the appeal. That is inexcusable, full stop. Appeals are a place to make your case, not get punished for it further.
Seem excessive.try talking to another admin or moderator about this. They admins can be stuck up their ass with tickets and power. Just because someone doesn't understand doesn't mean your stupid and won't learn. they have such a negative attitude to a newbies who just want to enjoy the game. Not everyone is out to ruin the day.
And thats a ban for "Violation of community rules" What rules? Are you stupid? Just because we dont like you! Was the CO ever punished with a strike or a note? Why is he also not involved when HE SORTED IT OUT as a CO and admins did not agree with this?
I wrote like 50 paragrpahs at this because it made me angry then deleted it cus it was mean but maaaaan ill just do some quick bullet points:
appealing leading to further bands is so so bad, sets a bad standard and makes admins look emotional as hell
the admin in this post is looking down on you so bad, he just sees you on the same level as a raider and despite making points saying you didnt see the person as human i doubt he sees you as one, youre just another rule breaker
this whole situation could have been resolved in round. If the person who got imprisoned ahelped it and an admin investigated and found that it was wrongful, they could have ahelped you your mistake, you could have got them out of jail and the whole thing could have been resolved. But im assuming it was an after round review, and instead of just telling you your mistake as its your first one and giving you a warn or smth, they just went to an immediate ban. TLDR there are so many things that could have been done to not escalate this or catch it before it, as the admin pointed out, ruins someone's round but it wasent
Like i understand rules need to be taken seriously, but i think the admins need to understand that at the end of the day its fuckin space station 14, it really isnt as serious as judging someone's entire character based on 1 over mis escalation. Then this whole thing results in you getting perma banned from command for 6 months? Insane. You also stated you got an help from a co regarding your decision, which they agreed with which surely means he gets perma banned as well right? RMC has set the standard that this results in a perma ban from command roles for one fuck up so...
Side note i love them saying the note wasent for you, it was for the admins. Isnt there like... a private admin note you can give someone lol?
HRP servers when you dont *blinks every 5-10 seconds:
Well, I was considering trying to get back into RMC but it looks like if I mess up in any of the roles for any reason im gonna get a newbie ban. I mean, a roleban for a newer player for charging someone with the wrong crime? Sure, you did charge them with too high of a crime but you didn't know that a lesser crime fit their actions!
And now they banned banned permanently after you decided to complain on reddit. Typical admins!
OP genuinly has issues if a former headmin of a server can't decipher that constantly arguging their point over a law after explicitly being told it's not interpreteted that way will cause the server admin not wanting to keep the player about
explicitly if they wish to go as far to make a targeted thread about them, make loads of arsey comments and assumptions, and weigh in on them about it - behaviour in mind completely untoward from a person who admins another server I may add.
absolute nutcase
congrats man, you got the very vocal minority of the ss14 community who have problems following rules to agree with you, well done - if people have such a genuine problem with this they can simply chose not to play, it's not hard
"A problem I have with this is that there was no way I would know of this SGO accepting the NOD or Insub. I properly threatened them with desertion, they didn't stand down. What would make them stand down if a capital crime didn't?"
So you threatened to permabrig someone if they didn't do as you pleased, then did so because they didn't back down. There's some serious irony here.
>Player is arrested unlawfully by an MP because they do not stand in a specific spot in briefing where a command player requests. (Not an order, it was explicitly a polite request.)
>Another player protests this unlawful arrest.
>This player is then round-removed for protesting an unlawful arrest via a permanent confinement capital charge that would require admin intervention to supersede.
>The player that assigned said round removal is punished for it and goes on to repeatedly re-instate their belief that round-removing said player was a valid course of action. I.E even if in this instance they would have acted differently there is no reason for confidence that another invalid round-removing capital charge would not be applied for insufficient crimes in the future, despite multiple attempts not limited to the appeal thread to explain why this is a bad idea and the exact opposite mindset wanted from Command/MP players, jumping the gun to the most extreme means possible and removing peoples' ability to play in rounds.
>Take to reddit to misrepresent case through limited context for no reason other than riling up people and getting them mad, get surprised at receiving repercussions.
Aren't you the guy that had the marines so pissed off at you that they had attempted to mutiny against you 3 times in one round? I love your art by the way.

I can see why they think you should be rolebanned but they shouldn't punish you FURTHER for applying for an appeal thats absurd.
indef banning a player because they pissed you off is in fact very mature and justified
other forks should adapt this practice asap
I do agree. I'll apply this to every server I admin and see how it goes oh nevermind already demoted okay.
I'd recommend not arguing anymore with the admins. Clearly they made up their mind against you. Arguing isn't going to help.
Looks like ya just got perma rolebanned by the RMC Host on a complete whim. You realized your mistake and it got solved IC so a perma ban seems HELLA excessive.
I guess whisper expects everyone to be 100% perfect 24/7
Seems excessive.
Reading this just made me mad, never played command on RMC but I am mainly a command player, going to appeal and being punished further is just dumb.
Admins should be able to say this is wrong because this, don't do it again than those weird escalations
In delta they added some additional rules to hos where it was a gray area apparently, but I was punished prior to those rules before that as well.
Admins in general cannot agree on rules in all servers and it really depends on their interpretion

If you didn't see the update: I am now permabanned from discord & in-game because of this post.
LMAOOOO
I wish I could match that level of malding, holy…

He is the host of the server, one of many. I doubt his friends will disagree with him.
SS13/14 has had an angry, emotional admin problem for a decade now. These people are pathetic
um.. yea lol.. imagine being an ss14 admin hah... yea.... lol.. hahah...
But agreed, not all admins are like this - but it only harms communities when there's admins like it.

I wish there was another heavy pvp mrp (read:lrp) server that I could join. I remember searching for days and not being able to find one.

Take a deep breath and get a grip. The SS13/14 community had a problem of emotional, immature admins for decades
"A problem I have with this is that there was no way I would know of this SGO accepting the NOD or Insub. I properly threatened them with desertion, they didn't stand down. What would make them stand down if a capital crime didn't?"

What do you want me to do about it
Donate to my cause
I require 500 million dollars I expect it by Sunday.
Thanks.
But in all seriousness, I just wanted to post this thread because it was a stupid ban that was extended without reason.
Lack of context is pretty ass, huh?

"Limited context" and its screenshots of the appeal and I admit when there are gaps in it
