Cage prays to himself for this poor soul.

To quote a Yahoo Answer to someone who asked to see a Japanese dub of the original Avatar series:

Let me guess, you've become so much of a weeaboo that you won't watch any cartoon unless it's been dubbed in Japanese.

Plus it's made by all Koreans, not Japanese.

Well animated by Koreans as is the case for a lot of American produced cartoons

I was in this anime club once where we had an AMV contest. There was this one kick-ass Avatar AMV that blew all the others out of the water by far. However this kid who my friend and I called "butthurt" who was a massive weeaboo and always wore pajama pants and a long, matted ponytail whined for the entire 3-4 minutes it was playing about how it didn't count because it wasn't "real anime" enough for him. So I guess language is the only thing separating "real" and "not real" anime for some people?

My friend and I got into a somewhat jovial argument over this. Way I see it, if you're one to split hairs, if it's actually made in Japan: Anime (comes from the term "Japanimation," and all). Anywhere else: just a cartoon. Realistically? They're ALL cartoons/animation. Heck, it just kind of ticks me off when people are like "Legend of Korra looks like anime, so it IS anime, so kawaii, ~desu~ ~desu~." No dude, anime is just region-specific terminology for cartoons from Japan. It's like saying 'scotch' or 'whiskey.' Scotch is whiskey, but whiskey ain't always scotch. So yeah... getting butt hurt over what is/isn't anime to me is butt hurt because at the end of the day, it specifically has to do with the region of origin, and not wholly the animation style/quality. Avatar (and the Boondocks, even) is very much anime inspired, but isn't an anime and THAT'S ALRIGHT. Could you tell this argument might've gotten a little out of hand?

I'm slightly confused

I think he means "original Japanese audio with English subs"

In case u/apopheniac1989 didn't nail it, Legend of Korra was made in America. Its original language was English, and if there's a Japanese dub (which I doubt), it's probably pretty obscure.
