I'm unable to uninstall firefox
Removing the snap firefox returns this error :
error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Remove data for snap "firefox" (5134) (failed to remove snap "firefox" base directory: remove /home/arjun/snap/firefox: directory not empty)
Installing the app via grub/snap or in the UI way via App Store doesn't work, there's an icon of Firefox in the launcher, but it doesn't really launch anything.
However, I was able to install a flatpak through the Software app. It works smooth.
OS - Ubuntu 24.10 - help please?

Why are you still using a version of Ubuntu that is no longer supported?

Um, OP CLEARLY states "OS - Ubuntu 24.10". WTF are YOU talking about?
How about focusing on the subject at hand?
What issues did you get with using the snap version of Firefox? I use Firefox a lot and I haven't seen any issues so far and therefore I haven't had the need to use an alternative version of Firefox.
I was trying to install some CSS themes and they wouldn't load. That's when I thought I should remove and reinstall it. I regret that decision now.
I hate that it's sand boxed and I have to do tricks, just to get into my home/Downloads. I mean, I get the drift of snap, but WTF are they REQUIRING the snap version of Firefox? It's NEVER been in sync with the actual releases and being sand boxed stops some extensions from even loading.
The first thing that hit my brain was "oh boy, just like MicroCrap Internet Explorer, all over again!"
Try emptying the directory and after that uninstalling Firefox
sudo rm -rf /home/arjun/snap/firefox
sudo snap remove firefox

For whatever ungodly reason, the "good ol' folks at Canonical are becoming MicroCrap. It started with "let us keep your bookmarks on our servers", escalated to "pay us for premium updates, otherwise, your machine COULD be at risk." And now, it's "but snap Firefox is ESSENTIAL and CANNOT be removed..."
Just like MS started with storing your profile on their servers for "easy remote access", then went to "we're charging for updates, either through forced machine upgrades (bringing us license monies) or subscriptions." With "you never own your software, you MUST use our cloud services now, and if you REALLY want the true MS experience, you must subscribe to a monthly service."
So, until someone figures out a workaround, we're stuck like iOS users, at the whim of the software's creators. Happy Halloween, from Canonical!
PS - I've got multiple machines, so I'm gonna try the upgrade on my Debian machine. If it goes cleanly (like NOT losing ALL of my Global Theme, background, and other settings), then I'm dumping Ubuntu. Not solely because of this, but this would be the proverbial straw.
