Die erschreckenden Entwicklungen im Osten der Demokratischen Republik bewegen uns sehr. Langjährige Partner von Rettet den leben und arbeiten auch in der Stadt , die von Rebellen eingenommen wurde. Die Umweltschützer sind in ernsten Schwierigkeiten, wollen aber ihre Arbeit für die möglichst bald fortsetzen.

Nigerias Bundesstaat Cross River beherbergt einige der letzten des Landes. Hier leben sogar extrem seltene . Illegaler ist die größte Bedrohung für die .
Unser Partner Odey Oyama wurde festgenommen, weil er gegen illegale kämpft und dabei die Namen mächtiger Hintermänner nennt. Seit Jahren wird er immer wieder bedroht.

Weil er gegen illegale Holzfäller kämpft und dabei die Namen mächtiger Hintermänner nennt, wird er seit Jahren immer wieder bedroht. Erst nach über einer Woche wurde er auf Kaution freigelassen. Lokale Aktivisten und die Organisation „Rettet den Regenwald“ fordern, dass die Vorwürfe gegen Odey fallen gelassen werden.

Rettet den Regenwald<p>Die Elektrizitätsfirma CEEE-Equatorial behauptet, den Schutz der <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Tiere" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Tiere</span></a> sehr ernst zu nehmen, hat aber seit Jahren keine effektiven Maßnahmen dafür ergriffen. <br />Im Februar hat die lokale Umweltstaatsanwaltschaft eine Zivilklage gegen zwei Stromnetzbetreiber eingereicht.
