One of the things I used to admire about the previous version of MEIOU was that it totally eliminated the Centers of Reformation mechanic, and generally made the Reformation a bit more mild, since I tend to like playing as a Catholic, and the CoRs seemed really gamey.
Now with this mechanic added back (or some other cause) it seems like the Reformation is drastically larger, with almost all Europe asides from Southern Italy and Spain, as well as perhaps Eastern Poland, going Lutheran or Calvinist, or even Hussite, since the AI seems not to care about combating Hussitism at all.
To my mind, this seems a bit excessive, it seems like Catholic countries basically have no chance. There's no Wars of Religion or 30 Years' War simply because there isn't any opposition.
Do others think the same way, or am I just biased?
I've seen a variety of outcomes. In one game Lutheranism was only present in the British isles and Scandinavia, with Calvinism being relegated to a few minor countries in the Rhine and Hussitism being non existant.
Perhaps it's just luck of the draw with some AI "Do you like the Pope yes or no" event
They haven’t yet finished the religion mechanics nor the reformation system. For example there aren’t really any ways for catholic countries to respond to heresy besides inquisitions, but those don’t really have any effect. CoR also don’t disappear like they’re supposed to after the Age of Reformation. Give it time. It is still in alpha.
MEIOU already implemented a way that CoR's disappear, that being with a specific institution speaking. Said institution also makes CoR's In trade companies disappear though, which isn't exactly the best.
