2016 Toyota Prius May Offer All-Wheel Drive

With its unique teardrop design and quirky looks the Prius is unmistakably a Prius. At the moment Toyota is hard at work developing the fourth generation Prius. We forewarn you, don’t expect anything radical but expect the Prius to become more refined with a subtle boost in efficiency.
Rumors have it that the fourth-generation Prius will feature both nickel-metal and lithium-ion batteries. Higher end variants are likely to feature lithium-ion batteries to increase all-electric range. The Prius is also expected to utilize a similar Synergy drive hybrid system but become more refined with an expected 10 percent boost in fuel efficiency.
The latest rumors claim that the upcoming Prius will feature an all-wheel drive system to please buyers in the upper Northwest and Northeast where they deal with all sorts of weather changes.
Underpinning the 2016 Prius will be Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), it will be significantly lighter, stronger and more aerodynamic than previous models while cutting costs across the Toyota model range. So far Toyota has been very tightlipped about the upcoming Prius, expect more updates in the near future closer to its 2015 global debut.
