As a resettlement package for the 5,300 displaced families that had come from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and settled outside Jammu and Kashmir, initially, but later relocated to the state, the government at the Centre has given its nod for a one-time payment of Rs. 5.5 lakh.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar while briefing about the Cabinet meeting said the “historical wrong” has been undone by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
He said, “The families which had come from PoK but had settled outside Jammu and Kashmir were left out of the package” adding further, “These families had later resettled in Jammu and Kashmir. Now 5,300 such families have been included in the resettlement package.”
Earlier, in 2016, PM Mr. Modi had announced the resettlement package for the PoK families who had settled in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir after partition.
